Current Openings:

Accounting Technician:
The MSU Bookstore is accepting applications for a full-time Accounting Technician.
The Accounting Technician position is cross trained in both accounts payable and accounts receivable and is responsible for understanding and completing all necessary accounting procedures in the office.

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or experience equivalency is preferred.

This is a full time position, (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday & may include an occasional Saturday in the fall. This position is eligible for medical benefits, vacation, and sick leave. Competitive starting salary, DOE


Faculty Liaison:

The Faculty Liaison assists the Course Materials department in securing faculty course materials adoptions and coordinates MSU Bookstore’s Inclusive Access program. The incumbent will be dynamic; having strong interpersonal skills, a desire to learn, educate, and embrace the mission of a not-for-profit, independent, cooperative bookstore, especially as it relates to building relationships and explaining our purpose to faculty and campus administration. In addition to these duties, the Faculty Liaison assists with the course materials adoption process, returns, buyback, compliance, and all other facets of the course materials process in MSU Bookstore. This position reports directly to the Course Materials Assistant Manager and indirectly to the Course Materials Manager.



Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree and experience in a course materials department with full time and student staff, preferably in a large-store environment • Commitment to the MSU Bookstore team and mission, and the ability to support the mission of MSU Bookstore and lead others in support of that mission • A commitment to implementing industry best-practices at MSU Bookstore
    • Ability to build partnerships both in-store and on-campus, with a special focus on faculty relationships
    • Ability to understand different modalities of education
    • Ability to work with and communicate with faculty relating to course materials pricing, the importance of the Bookstore, and how faculty can impact student cost reduction
    • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to communicate the mission of MSU Bookstore to students, faculty, and staff
    • Demonstrated understanding of the issues and opportunities facing institutions of higher education and the ability to communicate how MSU Bookstore can help faculty address those areas
    • Ability to work independently in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, meeting required deadlines
    • Demonstrated creativity and ability to rapidly adapt/anticipate changing market conditions
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task
    • Demonstrated knowledge of POS systems and textbook management software
    • Understanding of textbook financial models, GAAP, profit and loss, and budgeting processes
    • Understanding of non-traditional course materials models including e-books, rental (in-house or with multi-partner), inclusive access/LMS integration, OER, and securing copyright for digitizing, with a willingness to embrace and develop alternative models as the opportunity arises
    • Knowledge of HEA as it applies to the course materials requirements on campus
    • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
    • Travel for 1-3 weeks per year for conferences and training
    • Willingness to put team above self in all situations

Preferred Requirements:
    • Familiarity with NetSuite and database platforms
    • Knowledge/experience using VERBA tools
    • Knowledge/experience using Redshelf • Experience working in a 501(c3) non-profit corporation or Co-op

Merchandise Assistant:
The MSU Bookstore is accepting applications for a Merchandise Assistant. Responsible for creating and maintaining accuracy of data for the item purchase process for merchandise departments, logoed merchandise, food & beverages, sundries, art & architecture, gift, and outdoor products. The Merchandise Assistant will also be responsible for assisting with web order fulfillment, maintaining online item listings, customer service and other store projects as needed. Must be able to uphold processing standards set by the MSU Bookstore.

This is a full time position, (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday & may include an occasional Saturday. This position is eligible for medical benefits, vacation, and sick leave. Competitive salary, DOE

High school diploma, 1-2 years office experience, (computer), retail, and customer service experience is required. 2-3 years supervisor/manager experience is preferred. Must be detail oriented.

Merchandise Sales Associate:
Are you an excellent communicator that enjoys working with customers and hands-on projects? The MSU Bookstore is searching for detail-oriented team players that can maintain our high customer service standards and execute daily tasks in our face paced and constantly changing environment. Daily job duties include assisting customers in product selections, stocking merchandise, building displays, placing special orders, answering phone calls, and assisting in basic cleaning. All MSU Bookstore student employees are cross trained in all departments, participate in special in-store events, and staff our stadium site for home football games.

Technology Sales Associate:
Are you a strong communicator with an interest in technology? Our Technology Department Dales Associate's duties ranges from sales-floor retail sales to troubleshooting tech issues for customers. A great candidate need not know everything about technology, but can learn the important aspects on the job! This position can also lead to a potential additional focus on repair if the candidate is interested. All majors welcome to apply.

Shipping & Receiving Department Associate:
Are you a multi-tasker with strong organization skills? Our shipping & Receiving associates are individuals that work accurately and independently to meet daily deadlines. Our shipping & receiving team are the first to see merchandise coming into the store and the last to prepare it before it leaves the store.
Daily job duties include: processing orders to be shipped; sort, receive, and process incoming freight; prepare daily documents for accounting office, freight lines, and merchandise team; assist floor supervisors as requested; and maintain an organized, clean and efficient work area

Seasonal Positions:
Looking for work just before school starts or during breaks? Rather work occasional events than part time? This is the job for you! Our Seasonal Part Time Associates assist with major events like Buyback, Textbook Reservations, and Football games. Ideal for individuals interested in working occasionally throughout the year or on an on-call basis. Job duties encompass various positions on an as-needed basis. Some examples of jobs done include: Cashiers, door greeters/security, merchandise and textbook clerking and stocking. Both students and non-students are welcome to apply. These positions require working 8 hour shifts, (including some Saturday shifts), lifting 10-50 lbs. continuously throughout the shift.
