American Indian Council

The American Indian Council in solidarity, observes May 5 as National Missing and Murdered
Indigenous Peoples Day. You may notice two distinct elements of the MMIP shirt and stickers. The color
red is believed to transcend the physical world, thus inviting the protection and guidance of ancient and
spiritual relatives as Indigenous men, women, and children go missing and murdered. The hand signifies the
silence of those who are missing and murdered, the grief, loss, lack of resources, and accountability
that loved ones and communities experience in the wake of the reality of MMIP. Thank you for
supporting the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples movement.
