The MSU BOOKSTORE, INC. is currently accepting applications for a Customer Service Coordinator position. Full time position, 40 hrs. per week, excellent benefits; medical, dental, retirement, vacation, and sick leave. Occasional Saturdays and evenings are required.

The employee will be responsible for answering phones, merchandise returns, assisting customers, mail distribution, entering, processing scholarship accounts, scheduling student employees, student employee payroll, and cashiering as needed.

This position assists with the Bookstore payroll and Human Resources responsibilities’. (Cashier training, Bookstore training manuals and presentations)

Position requirements: High School diploma and/or equivalent, commitment to the MSU Bookstore team and mission, ability to build partnerships both in store and on campus, strong communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to communicate the mission of MSU Bookstore to students, faculty, and staff. Ability to work independently in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, meeting required deadlines. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task. Demonstrated knowledge of POS systems.

Accounting Technician 1:



MSU Bookstore is accepting applications for a full-time Accounting Technician 1. The ideal candidate will have background in A/P, A/R, organizing, analyzing information, data entry & PC proficiency. An associate’s degree or equivalent education and experience is required.

Applicants must have great customer service. Working with the public, managers, supervisors, MSU faculty and staff effectively and courteously is a must.

This is a full-time position, (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday & may include an occasional Saturday. This position is eligible for medical benefits, vacation, and sick leave. Competitive salary, DOE

Course Materials Associate:



Overview
Incorporated in 1931, Montana State University Bookstore, Inc. (MSU Bookstore), is a student-faculty owned cooperative that serves Montana State University and the surrounding Gallatin Valley community.

As a student-faculty co-op, MSU Bookstore seeks to provide the lowest possible pricing on textbooks for our students. This is done through rebating the excess profits of previous years’ sales back to our student owners through aggressive textbook discounting.

Primary responsibilities
The Course Materials Associate assists the Course Materials Manager with the overall operation of the department. In this role, the Course Materials Associate maintains responsibility helping with pricing, ordering/receiving, returns, buyback, compliance, and all other facets of the course materials process in MSU Bookstore. The Course Materials Associate also is integral in assisting with maintaining the department budget; and assisting in setting the yearly goals and objectives. The incumbent will be dynamic; having strong interpersonal skills, a desire to learn, educate, and embrace the mission of a not-for-profit, independent, cooperative bookstore.

In addition, an enhanced focus on customer service is essential to the success of the Course Materials Department, and, as such, the Course Materials Associate will assist customers, be familiar with and visible on the sales floor, and will place customer priorities first at any point in the work day.

Position requirements

  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to rapidly adapt/anticipate changing market conditions
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated knowledge of POS systems
  • Knowledge of HEOA as it applies to the course materials requirements on campus
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, PC/Apple
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Other duties as assigned

    Preferred requirements
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or MBS POS systems
  • Knowledge/experience using VERBA tools
  • Knowledge/experience using Redshelf
  • Willingness to put team above self in all situations
  • Experience working in a 501(c3) non-profit corporation or Co-op
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues and opportunities facing institutions of higher education and the ability to communicate how MSU Bookstore can help faculty address those areas
  • Demonstrated ability to understand/execute marketplace sourcing of used textbooks

    Temporary Employees:


    MSU Bookstore, Inc. is currently accepting applications for temporary employees to work occasionally through the summer, the fall rush, mid-August through mid-September. The spring rush, December through mid-January, inventory in March and spring textbook buyback, late April through mid-May. Ideal for individuals interested in working occasionally or on an on call basis. 

    Cashiers, door greeters/security, clothing/merchandise clerks and textbook clerk positions are available. These positions require working 8 hour shifts, (including some Saturday shifts), lifting 10-50 lbs. continuously throughout the shift. Starting rate is $9.48/hour.
